Dear Friends
My 7 year old Excellent trouble free HCL  PC UPS stopped working  :(, I had to buy a new UPS for my PC, I searched on Net and found that Microtek is suitable for me as it is mentioned in their product catalogue that it will work at 145-300 Volts, no other company like Luminous etc mentioned about working voltage and decided to purchase a Microtek Heritage Gold 625 VA ( HGE625AG) model, as we get high voltage upto 300 Volts in my area and I was sure that it will work at 300 Volts as promised by Microtek company, but I am sorry to say that it is not working even at 290 volts  :(, I have e mailed to Microtek about this problem, but not received any reply yet, so I request all friends to think twice before purchasing a Microtek UPS.

Thanks
Alok

Did you measure the voltage ? maybe its more than 300 volts

And how the hell do you run stuff at your place ? most devices work within 220-250 V AC

Hi SB
Voltage in my area is not always 300 Volts, it touches 300 in  morning and at 11 PM and I have checked voltage in my voltage stabiliser, when my UPS stopped working and it was about 290 volts, now I am going to buy a stabiliser for my PC, which will cost me atleast Rs 1800.

Thanks
Alok

well i see no other fix...it might be that the UPS could function at 300v for a very short span (maybe just a voltage spike)

Its really bad that your area experiences the issue...are other electronics working safe?

Hi
I have attached a manual stabiliser set at 100 volts to my Sony LCD :), another stabiliser to my Fridge and waiting for summer season, when people start using AC and Fans, voltage will drop automatically.

Thanks
Alok

why 100 volts? at lower voltage you get lower efficiency.. :)

Hi
I have no idea that frequency is lower at lower voltage, I thought that it is 50 cycles/sec even at 100 volts.

Thanks
