The much awaited HD 7870 and HD 7850 are now released. Performance of these cards is pretty much as expected, the HD 7870 is slightly faster than the 6970 in most cases and the HD 7850 is stands between the HD 6950 and HD 6970. Okay so thats great news, or is it?
The pricing of these cards is again a little steep. The HD 7850 costs $250 and the HD 7870 costs $ 350, which is slightly more than the HD 6900 cards. Agreed that these cards have lower power consumption and better overclocking potential, but is it justified?
I think we have been just too used to the war between ATI/AMD and Nvidia for the past 3 years and now AMD has a chance to make some money.
If you are hoping for a price war, it ain't coming anytime soon...we are probably months away from any big price cuts..our only real hope is 1GB variants of these cards..
