As you know, newly released Avast 7 has many features that are not available in older versions of Avast. The eye catching features are new cloud engine, streaming updates, new UI, remote assistance (to and fro).

How to update to Avast 7 from old version of Avast

If you are currently using and older version of Avast, simply click on the Avast icon and the user interface will appear. Click on Summary tab (on left hand side) on the Window to see an option called Program update beside which you will be able to find a link called Update clicking on which your Avast antivirus or Internet security will automatically upgrade to Avast 7. The screen shot below will be you an idea if you are not able to find the proper options (screen shot below is from Avast 6).

Please note that you should have an active internet connection to upgrade successfully.

Once you finish upgrading to Avast 7, you will find a window as seen below. It shows that your Avast version is already upgraded to Avast 7. But before clicking Finish button, uncheck the option to install Google Chrome if you already have it or do not wish to install on your computer.

If you are not able to upgrade successfully, check if your PC meets the system requirements for Avast 7

Which operating system can run Avast 7 ?

1. Windows 7 (32 / 64 bit) all versions.

2. Windows Vista (32 / 64 bit) all versions except Starter.

3. Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) (32 / 64 bit) all versions.

4. Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 (SP4).

5. Windows 8 Developer Preview.

Minimum Hardware requirements for Avast 7

1. Processor : Pentium 3 or above

2. 128 MB RAM

3. 200 MB free space in hard disc

If all these requirement are met, you are ready to enjoy the Avast 7 experience with very attractive UI and features as seen below.
