With so much talk about the iPad, we seem to have missed out HP's Tablet , the HP Slate.

Not much is known about the product, HP as usual does not reveal much. But, here are the specifications what we believe are more or less confirmed, so take them with a pinch of salt.

It seems to have an Atom CPU, comes with Windows 7, its got USB connectivity, a memory card reader,a webcam and guess what, it supports flash ! So basically, its a a little better version of the iPad, just that you will have a not so friendly Windows 7 interface . It seems to be priced at about $500 odd,but there is no confirming that. HP has however told that its base model will be cheaper than the iPad, so lets see how that pans out. Here is a small video that shows what you can do with the slate, its due out June this year.

The biggest advantage this has got over the iPad is that it can run flash (youtube !!), has a memory card slot (nope, iPad misses that too) and the inclusion of USB (iPad does NOT have USB, kindda suxs)

I hate iPad. Who will make a computer in which people cannot view YouTube.  >:( It is just the hype. Similar is the case with iPhone.

Well, you know how apple fanboys would reply to that - "Without flash, at least you will not get those irritating Ad banners !" lol

After owning every edition of the iPhone that has released, I must say that I will never purchase the iPad. Apple has made no effort so far (after 3 years?) to include Flash in its Mobile Safari. If you watch Job's keynote, his first boast about the device is its web browsing feature. You can see in his keynote, when he opens the New York Times the flash videos are missing. A real shame!

This is a very good and an excellent alternative to the iPad. Thanks Rajan.

Thanks buddy, I just hope Sirish's dad gets a few samples before its out in retail !!

also, Apple had recently told why they did not support flash, it seems that the A4 processor of the iPad may not be able to handle flash and that the device battery life would reduce to a crappy 1.5Hrs. Will try to look up the original article...
