Mobile phone was a boon which came very late to India, but the spam calls and messages came pretty quick. Not a day will pass that you do not get a message / call asking whether you are interested in a credit card, insurance policy or a bank loan. Life was getting difficult for Indians when Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) decided to step in. Now we can opt for full or partial blocking of telemarketer calls.  You can use the following link and use the instruction there to own a mobile phone where you get calls only from your friends and loved ones.
